Helen Giles

Managing Director

Helen graduated from Reading University in 1979 with a First Class Honours degree in History.  After taking a Postgraduate Certificate in Education and working in education for 5 years, she joined the social housing sector in 1986, becoming an HR professional in the early 1990s. 

As well as having held full-time HR Director positions for charities, she has carried out a wide range of HR consultancy work, primarily within the voluntary and public sectors.  She holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Human Resource Management and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development (Chartered FCIPD).

Helen was voted into the top 10 of Personnel Today's list of HR's Top 40 Power Players in 2009. She was described as a 'shining light in the charity sector'. The magazine acknowledged Real People as one of her and her team's 'major achievements'.

In June 2009 HR Magazine named Helen 12th in their list of 50 Most Influential HR Practitioners.

In 2008 Helen won the prestigious Personnel Today HR Director of the Year 2008 and she was voted at 11th place in Personnel Today’s list of 40 Most Influential HR PractitionersHelen was appointed MBE in the New Year’s Honours List 2008.

She is certified in Psychometric Testing (Levels A & B) and is an accredited Workplace Mediator (holding the Mediation Practioner's Certificate).
