Coaching Skills For Managers

Coaching is a conversation with a purpose. It is the ability to develop a person’s skills and knowledge so that their job performance improves.

While working with the wide range of organisations that we support, we have seen clear evidence that an effective coaching culture:

• supports a workforce to achieve organisational objectives
• enables managers to target and enhance high performance
• supports improvement in poor performance
• supports the identification and nurture of talent pools and succession plans

The Real People Coaching Skills for Managers training course is a practical and engaging one-day programme, focusing on giving managers the skills, knowledge and practical understanding to implement coaching in the workplace.

Learning objectives

By the end of the training course delegates will:

• Understand what is meant by coaching and when to use it
• Understand the differences between coaching, mentoring and other management approaches, knowing which ones to use in different situations
• Understand the different principles of effective coaching, how and when to apply them
• See the benefits of using a coaching techniques and the value of taking time to meaningfully coach staff
• Identify and practice your own skills as a coach, to question, listen and give feedback, and practice applying these in the workplace
