Managing For High Performance
Once you are clear about what performance expectations you have of staff, training managers how to communicate them, reward exceptional performance and develop under performance is the first step to setting clear and consistent standards across the organisation.
The Real People Managing for High Performance Course is designed to give managers the tools, knowledge and confidence to effectively frame performance expectations, objectively measure performance against them and consistently address ineffective performance levels before it impacts on your overall business performance.
Learning objectives
The Real People Managing for High Performance course is a practical two day course that goes beyond basic performance management to give delegates the edge in pushing for high performance and employee engagement. The impact of such skills has been proven to boost organisational performance and have a direct impact on the bottom and front line whether that is in relation to profit or customer service.
Following this course delegates will be able to:
- Describe what makes a high performance workplace, recognise high performance and use the organisations performance management scheme to drive and inspire high performance
- Explain which practices motivate and de-motivate staff and proactively identify when to use different key approaches such as delegation and coaching
- Recognise the value of a well managed probationary period, dealing with issues early on and recognising high performance in probation to secure long term engagement
- Understand how to set measurable performance objectives, how to engage staff in setting their own objectives and take responsibility for their achievement of those objectives
- Understand the value of setting standards for how staff work, as well as for what they do, through behavioural competency frameworks
- Understand how to effectively use a behavioural competency framework to inspire, give recognition for and support the improvement of staff performance
- Support others in facilitating learning and continuous professional development for themselves
- Develop effective delegation and coaching skills through practical experience
- Confidently and effectively address underperformance, empowering staff to improve and effectively managing capability dismissals within the boundaries of employment law
