Restructuring comes hand in hand with change and in those unfortunate cases where the result is making redundancies, this is stressful for all involved. Not only is it important from a legal perspective to ensure that everything is done correctly, but from a moral perspective as well.

Real People’s Managing Redundancies and Restructuring workshop, is a practical one day programme, focusing on managing restructuring processes to be legally and ethically sound and to maintain as high employee engagement as possible.

Learning objectives

Elements covered by the course are practical tips around change management - how to keep your staff motivated in difficult times; identifying key points to cover in your redundancy policy and process and an explanation of how to behave decently as well as legally.

By the end of the training course delegates will be able to:

  • Explain the principles of restructuring and change management
  • Project plan a change process
  • Deal with resistance to restructuring or other changes in a productive way
  • Design a fair redundancy/ restructuring process
  • Recognise when something is a redundancy and when it isn’t
  • Write appropriate consultation letters for a redundancy/ restructuring process
  • Conduct effective consultation meetings
  • Design selection criteria in a redundancy situation
  • Explain what can be done above and beyond the legal minimum to get the best out of a redundancy / restructuring process
